Well, it happened. Our World Edventure has reached it’s lowest point. Literally. In fact, the lowest point on the Earth: the Dead Sea in Israel!
Check out our first YouTube video with footage from the Dead Sea!
After reading and hearing about the Dead Sea for years, we were excited to escape the oppressive desert heat with a dip in the Dead Sea. We had heard people easily float in the hypersaline body of water, but it still caught us off guard when our bodies popped up to the top of the water like corks!
Unfortunately, one of the other effects of the hyper-saline water is that it stings sensitive body parts like scraped knees or ragged cuticles. Hope and Joy rather quickly decided the Dead Sea was not a place they really could relax since they had stinging knees and fingers. Thankfully, a rinse off in the showers along the waterfront quickly brought relief.
One of the most awesome experiences was simply laying back, fully extended, and letting the buoyancy of the water completely support your body. It was incredibly relaxing! No effort, no tension, no work. Fully supported. Fully at ease.
As lovely as a nap on top of the water might have been, it would have resulted in clinically dangerous extreme sunburns. So, we rinsed off the salt and minerals, but will hold onto the memories of this low point forever.
