Our first “hop off” of our Hop On Hop Off Bus ride in Bath, England was to the Fashion Museum. Joy, in particular, has her own sense of style and is curious about fashion and costume design. We figured this was the perfect Worldschooling opportunity!
The Fashion Museum is held in The Assembly Rooms, a National Trust property. Their collections include real fashions from Georgian times to the present day displayed in chronological order so it is easy to observe the changes in style over time.
We, of course, picked up their free audio guide for our self-guided tour. We love audio guides! The Fashion Museum audio guide was especially helpful for connecting fashion trends with historical events and historical people.
We were delighted to turn the corner to find a dress up area with replica Victorian dress! And, if you know us, we rarely pass up an opportunity to play dressup!
The Fashion Museum in Bath is a lovely way to spend an afternoon delighting in the creativity and ingenuity of designers. Between sumptuous fabrics, saturated colors, lovely layers, and clever clothing tricks, it was an awesome way to have history jump off a textbook page into the imaginations of our daughters — worldschooling ROCKS!!
I am loving following your adventures! The pictures and stories make it a home-schooling experience for me also! I wish all of your pictures came right-side-up. I’m not sure if your can fix this, but it would make it so much easier – especially in this fashion post, to see the girls in their dresses. I’ve been praying for you – and will keep doing so.
Marolin, this is one of my biggest frustrations with the blog right now! We upload the pictures correctly oriented, then they magically flip orientation! We are trying to figure out if it is a problem with mobile formatting, the size of the files, or an update needed on the blog. We are so very sorry this is detracting from our dear family and friends being able to read our blog posts and enjoy the pictures.
Do you usually read the posts on a mobile device or computer?
I read them on my desk-top computer. It’s really okay – I love the stories, and can see enough of the pictures to see what’s going on. What a fabulous adventure!
