This is a weird time for us. We are still home for three months. Three very important and busy months of living our normal lives. This also means we have just 90 days left before we leave on our edventure!
Ryan has three months of ministry and a bunch of projects so that his amazing staff and the church members are equipped to do the work of ministries Ryan usually oversees. Nicole has major decisions on the table for her work — trying to get them wrapped up and self-sustaining before we go.
We have three months left of the school-year for all three daughters — full of studies, tests, projects, and a host of “end-of-the-year” celebrations. Harmony has one last round of tech week and shows for the Musical Theater Conservatory at OCSA. Joy has several dozen praying mantids she is tending and observing for a science showcase. Hope is hard at work on some goals in speech therapy.
We have three months of normal home life. Three months of laundry, dishes, groceries, cleaning rooms, scrubbing toilets.
Three months to balance living here and now against the runaway train feeling of the thought of “just 90 more days!”
Just 90 more days to get our home ready!
Just 90 more days to pack up our junk precious belongings!
Just 90 more days to get our home ready for another family to rent while we are gone! To thin out our possessions, putting only a small percentage in a storage facility. Repairing all those little things around the house we just live with, but that should be fixed before we ask someone else to pay to live in our home. Recarpeting the entire upstairs since the carpet has survived being the zone our aging cats preferred for their body-function-filled “golden years” and a decade of babies/toddlers/potty training/science experiments/craft projects/life with kids — in short, the carpet is NASTY and must be replaced! Oh, and it is probably time to freshen things up with a new coat of paint too if I’m returning to homeowner purgatory.
Just 90 more days to share everyday life with friends and extended family! (Note to self: that means just a dozen Friday nights of double dates to schedule plus a Bon voyage party or two.)
This is the weird dichotomy in which we live:
We have three months to live out with presence and intention.
And we have just 90 days to prepare before we leave!
The countdown is on: T-90.
